A number of comments have been flagged in this thread in people were being called liars and trolls and other stuff. They have been flagged as inappropriate, went into the moderation queue, and now that I'm at the computer again, I don't see anything particularly valuable in there to warrant pulling them out.

If you have a question about the source of some data, just ask it. Just say, like a normal person would, where does GridSurvey get its data?

In which case, I -- or a number of other people -- would be able to tell you. First, there are script commands you can use in Second Life to tell you whether a region is up or not, and its coordinates, and its maturity level. Second, there is an API that works on its website. So there are multiple avenues where an automated data collector can collect stats, in addition to the Second Life login screen.

Second, GridSurvey posts the names of all the regions it finds. So if your region is not on the list, you can say, "hey, they missed my region." Or if a region is on the list that's been gone for months, you can say, "hey, they're still counting that region even though it's gone."

I have not seen any reports that they have inaccurate data. Not from the Lindens, not from residents, not from anyone else. In addition, their data is in sync with other data sources, such as their chief competitor, Metaverse Business -- http://www.metaverse-business....
