Joe - Thanks for the fantastic article. My jumping in point was somewhat later than yours at the insistence of a friend, but as soon as I saw the technology I thought to myself, "This is what I thought the internet was going to be like when I first read about it". I worked my way through all of the technical difficulties, downtime, and general and specific creepiness of SL because I became a believer in the platform. I tried to make believers out of others over the years as well, with limited success. While I agree with most of your thoughts on the subject, I have always been a firm believer in teachers leading the way with technology. If it hadn't been for several bleeding edge teachers in middle and high school, I would never have developed the interest in computer software that I have today.
