GMod is basicly another part of Half Life 2 that lets players build stuff using assets already in the game and whatever Valve throws into GMod. It's not to similar to OpenSim and SL in a way of just downloading a viewer and off you go. Need to first off buy GMod from Steam then download a like a gig or more of game data before you can play. But players can run their own server and create their own world and let other players come and create things and/or kill each other.
